HAXL

With thanks to Dr Thomas Grupp for most of the ditorial. “The most famous Fleckvieh bull in the history ever was BAYERN-GENETIK HAXL 2356/13. HAXL was at our facilty in Munich between 1966 and 1977.”Haxl was one the most important Fleckvieh bulls in Germany. The reason was he improved the udders to such a quality that no one expected as the normal udders at that time looked like Goat udders. Haxl’s dam, Alapis, did not conceive to AI from her 11th pregnancy so they took her to the AI bull Hax’, that was not allowed even in those days(1965). Haxl went straight into the AI station which was normal in those days. The AI station Weihenstephan, (Technical University), was his first home. The university sold the area to our AI station ( Bayern Genetik) with all the bulls and equipment. For Haxl they made a specific document, if he would be superior in progeny testing our AI station would have to pay a lot of money to the university for the support of the students. This paper was done by Prof Horst Kraeusslich, a strong supporter and fan of Haxl, he is still breeding polled Fleckvieh since he retired (as at 2004). he most important son of Haxl, in my opinion was Haxon. he produced long lasting and hardy cows with excellent feet and legs, udders and quite good type, which was a bit of a problem in the Haxl Progeny itself”.
